Texas basketball and acting head coach Rodney Terry will continue their quest to reel in the first Big 12 win at home at the Moody Center in Austin on Jan. 11 against head coach Jamie Dixon and the No. 17 ranked TCU Horned Frogs. Terry and No. 10 ranked Texas slipped up in their first try to get the first Big 12 win for the men’s hoops program at the Moody Center last week in a defensive meltdown against first-year head coach Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats.

Yet, Terry and the Longhorns responded well to the record-breaking defensive collapse at home on Jan. 3 against Kansas State with a solid outing last weekend on the road against the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Texas came up with a brilliant defensive outing in Stillwater on Jan. 7, giving up just 46 points in a 10-point win over head coach Mike Boynton and Oklahoma State.

The 56-46 win over Oklahoma State at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater on Jan. 7 moved Texas’ record on the season to 13-2 (2-1 Big 12). Texas can move its winning streak to two games if it emerges victorious at home over TCU.

Meanwhile, TCU comes into this matchup also having suffered a recent slip-up at home. TCU was upset by the No. 25 ranked Iowa State Cyclones at home in Fort Worth on Jan. 7, in a tough two-point loss. That loss to Iowa State snapped a pretty impressive 11-game winning streak for the Horned Frogs.

TCU now heads into this meeting with Texas with a record of 13-2 (2-1 Big 12).

Here’s a look at the TV/streaming information and game time as Texas gets set to host TCU at home at the Moody Center in Austin on Jan. 11.

ESPN2 will get the call for this meeting between Texas and TCU on Jan. 11. According to the game notes from Texassports.com, Bob Wischusen and Chris Spatola will get the call for this broadcast at the Moody Center on this night.

This will be the third time this season that a Longhorns game was broadcast live on ESPN2. It is also one of three straight games this week that will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks.

Texas vs. TCU preview

The series history between Texas and TCU is one that possesses a lot of different momentum swings in the last couple of decades.

Prior to TCU beating Texas in the Big 12 Tournament 65-60 last season, the Longhorns had won seven straight games in this series. But if you go back to the beginning of the 2018-19 season, TCU had won five of the last six meetings against Texas.

This meeting between the Longhorns and Horned Frogs on Jan. 11 will be an opportunity for Texas to get back on the right track in this series. It will also be good for Texas to get a win over a ranked opponent in a very winnable situation, which isn’t super common in the gauntlet that is the Big 12 slate.
