The second win in a row and fifth in the last six outings for acting head coach Rodney Terry and No. 10 Texas basketball arrived at home in convincing fashion on Jan. 24. Texas downed head coach Mike Boynton and the Oklahoma State Cowboys at home at the friendly confines of the Moody Center in Austin to sweep the regular season series.

Terry and the Longhorns also got their second win in the last three weeks over Oklahoma State. And both triumphs over the Pokes came by double-digit margins. It is really impressive anytime you can get a regular season sweep over any Big 12 by a double-digit margin in both games.

The offense took this game over for the Longhorns. An 89-point outburst saw the Longhorns pull away from Oklahoma State late in this game. That ultimately got the win for Texas by the final score of 89-75. Texas held the lead in this game for an insane 36:36 minutes. Comparatively, Oklahoma State had the lead for just 27 seconds.

Here’s a look at two studs and one dud from Texas’ comfortable 14-point win over Oklahoma State on Jan. 24.

Stud No. 1: Marcus Carr, G

The Big 12 Player of the Year candidate and senior guard Marcus Carr continued his solid play in this win over Oklahoma State. He was solid again on both ends of the floor for the Longhorns, coming up with his second straight game with at least 20 points, three assists, and three steals.

In the last two games, Carr has 44 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, and six steals.

This was also the third game this season for Carr where he’s registered at least 20 points, three assists, and three steals while shooting at least 55 percent from the field, per Sports Reference. No other player in the Big 12 has done this more than once this season.

Carr was a catalyst out of the gates for the Longhorns with six points in the first eight minutes. And while he did slow down in terms of scoring to close out the first half, he was really good on the offensive end in the final 20 minutes. Carr posted 13 of his 21 points in the second half as he continued his insane clutch scoring pace for the Longhorns.

He also played a bit of an iron man role in this game, getting whopping 36 minutes on the floor.
