Texas Basketball: 2 studs, 1 dud from clutch win over Penn State
Stud No. 2: Dylan Disu, PF/C
There’s absolutely zero doubt as to who gets the biggest stud spot on this list.
Disu left it all out on the court in this win over Penn State with an insane 28-point, 10-rebound, and two-steal performance that saw him put the Longhorns on his back in clutch time. The crazy thing is that this performance wasn’t even a career-best for Disu in terms of points and/or rebounds in a single game.
He actually had a 29-point and 16-rebound performance when the Vanderbilt Commodores somehow lost to the Kentucky Wildcats during the 2020-21 campaign.
Moreover, here is a look at some of the accomplishments/milestones that Disu reached with his insane performance on this night.
- 900 career points
- Texas NCAA Tournament record for field goals in a single game
- First player since 2000 in the NCAA Tournament to record 28 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals, and 0 turnovers
- First player in the NCAA Tournament this year to record 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 steals
I’m sure there are more accomplishments that we could find from Disu’s awesome night leading Texas to this win over Penn State.
And from my count, Disu wound up with more than a half-dozen points in clutch time while going perfect on his attempts from the field. If that is the case when the official clutch stats come out, Disu will have his best offensive performance in clutch time during his two seasons donning the Burnt Orange.
There isn’t enough I could say about Disu’s performance on this night. He just continues to come up huge for the Longhorns as he definitely is the most valuable player for this team in the last few weeks.
