Texas Football: RGIII advocates for Cowboys to draft Bijan Robinson
In a little over one month, roughly a half-dozen Texas football players will be waiting to hear their names called during the 2023 NFL Draft. And the Texas Ex that is almost guaranteed to be the first name called on Day 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft is the All-American junior running back Bijan Robinson.
Bijan is widely considered to be the best running back in this draft class, and one of the most talented prospects at any position. ESPN ranks Bijan as the sixth-best overall prospect available in the 2023 draft class.
Yet, due to the regression in the way that running backs are valued in the NFL Draft in this day and age, Bijan probably won’t be picked among the best players available on different teams’ big boards. In all likelihood, he’ll be picked up around the middle or late picks in the first round.
One potential first-round destination for Bijan that seems to be a fan favorite ahead of Day 1 of the draft is with the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys are slated to pick 26th overall in the first round of the draft.

A major advocate for the Cowboys potentially picking Bijan in the first round, 26th overall, in the 2023 draft is the former Baylor Bears and Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III. The ESPN football analyst/media personality tweeted on the morning of March 19 after the Cowboys traded for veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks that they should now go after Bijan.
Griffin specifically tweeted “now all the Cowboys have to do is draft Bijan Robinson”.
If the latest mock draft from Pro Football Focus holds true, then Griffin’s wish for the Cowboys to draft Bijan could become a reality. The latest 2023 mock draft from PFF’s Trevor Sikkema had Bijan falling at No. 26 in the first round to the Cowboys.

The first day of the 2023 NFL Draft is on April 27, with the commencing of the first round. Bijan is likely to be one of the most talented players selected on April 27 in the first round of the draft after posting some solid NFL Combine numbers, including a sub-4.5 second 40-yard dash time.
