Texas Football: 2 wide receivers that will be ‘tough to keep off the field’
DeAndre Moore Jr.
A name that we’ve heard a lot about this spring among the new additions to the Texas offense from the high school ranks in the 2023 class is true freshman wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. The former four-star St. John Bosco (CA) wide receiver recruit has made a very positive impression on the coaches and his teammates right away in practice.
Moore was one of the names mentioned by a team source in a piece from Horns247 on March 31 (paid content) that will be “tough to keep off the field” this fall.
This doesn’t come as much of a surprise to me, though, given that Moore has shown out well from a technical and a feel for the game perspective. Moore has drawn a lot of attention in a positive sense for his strong route-running ability and his reliable hands in one-on-one drills.
A piece from Bobby Burton of Inside Texas earlier in the week (paid content) also noted that Moore was someone that continues to draw “rave reviews” throughout the first few weeks of spring camp. We have consistently heard about how good Moore has looked in practice and the open scrimmage last weekend as camp has progressed.
I should also mention that Moore is one of the early enrollees that we have heard consistently good things about coming out of almost every single spring practice. That’s not to say that we are hearing a lot of bad stuff about the other early enrollees. But you rarely get an early enrollee such as Moore at a position as deep and talented as Texas is at wide receiver standing above the rest so often in spring camp.
