Texas Football: Breaking down 3 biggest blue-chip visitors this weekend
While most of the action on the recruiting trail for head coach Steve Sarkisian and
took place last weekend during the Junior Day festivities in Austin, there are still some important visitors to note in the coming days on the Forty Acres. Texas is still expecting at least a handful of visitors on campus in the coming days.
The number of visitors this weekend and early next week for Sark and the Longhorns staff might not be as great as Junior Day last weekend, but the quality will surely be up to par.
This spring appears to be going well for the Longhorns on the recruiting trail, especially with some of the moves that the staff has made with priority targets in the 2024 and 2025 classes. Texas is building up to something special on the recruiting trail in the 2024 class this summer.
And the 2025 class looks like it will be in solid shape come the fall.
5-Star WR Micah Hudson and the top blue-chip visitors for Texas football this weekend
With all of this in mind, here’s a look at an analysis of the three biggest blue-chip visitors for the Longhorns in the next few days.
Kendall Jackson, DL
For the first time since the first Junior Day of the offseason back in late January, the highly-recruited four-star Gainesville F.W. Buchholz (FL) defensive lineman Kendall Jackson made it back to the Forty Acres for an unofficial visit.
Jackson made the trip to Austin this weekend amid a busy stretch of the spring for the blue-chip Florida defensive lineman. He visited a whopping three schools in as many days last week, which were the Ole Miss Rebels, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Alabama Crimson Tide. Jackson is also slated to make the trip to Lexington to see the Kentucky Wildcats on April 8.
Texas and defensive line coach Bo Davis made a big enough impression during Jackson’s Junior Day trip on the weekend of Jan. 21 to get him interested in multiple return visits this year. It sounds like Jackson was not only eagerly awaiting this trip to the Forty Acres this weekend, but also make a return visit for a gameday weekend to see the Longhorns at DKR this fall.
Davis and the Longhorns are also making Jackson one of the bigger out-of-state priorities among defensive linemen in the 2024 class this offseason. The 6-foot-4 and 250-pound Jackson had a massive junior season at Buchholz, putting up a whopping 22 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, and two interceptions.
Texas’ pitch to Jackson has caught his attention this offseason. And if Texas can keep him around campus often for the rest of the year, Davis and this staff will remain in a favorable spot heading into the fall.
It looks like Jackson is likely to make a decision during or after his senior season at Buchholz.
