The Horns land a top 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament

Putting an arbitrary mark on a team’s potential tournament seeding 11 months before Selection Sunday gives you a chance to wind up on Old Takes Exposed, but I will do it anyway.

With how I believe this roster will look going into the 2023/24 season, I believe Texas is poised to land a top-four seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

With transfer and draft decisions looming, these next two months are crucial for this program. Guys like Dylan Disu, Tyrese Hunter, Dillon Mitchell, and Arterio Morris are floating their names in NBA Draft circles to see what their current stock is at the next level.

That said, I believe Disu, Hunter, and Morris will return to the Forty next season. They will pair with Brock Cunningham, Alex Anamekwe, freshmen Ron Holland and AJ Johnson, and Rowan Brumbaugh (if he stays out of the portal).

That is a strong core of players that combines a good amount of experience with young talent. On top of that, I expect Coach Terry and his staff to be very active in the transfer portal. I could see Texas bringing in anywhere from 2-4 transfers, with at least one of those names being a marquee proven talent.

Coach Terry is as good as anyone in the country at getting buy-in from his players. The real question is, can he assemble a roster with enough talent to creep toward the top of the polls?
