Texas Football: Evaluating 3 new priority blue-chip recruits this spring
Caden Durham, RB
A fast riser on Texas’ radar at the running back position in the 2024 class this spring is the touted four-star Duncanville product Caden Durham. The elusive and powerful 5-foot-9 and 195-pound Durham has seemingly ascended to the top of Texas’ running back big board in the 2024 class this spring.
The South Dallas product Durham had a massive junior campaign at Duncanville High School. According to MaxPreps, Durham registered nearly 2,000 rushing yards on 210 attempts and a whopping three-dozen rushing scores at Duncanville during the 2022 campaign.
Durham is one of the names we’ve heard the most about this spring that Texas is interested in at the running back position in the 2024 class alongside the elite five-star IMG Academy product Jerrick Gibson and four-star Phoenix Mountain Pointe (AZ) product Christian Clark.
Gibson is still the Longhorns’ clear-cut top target at the running back position in the 2024 class. But Durham could be the second back that Texas looks to take in this class.
He fits the mold of that bruiser/bell cow back that Sark loves to set the tone on the ground with. Durham has a nice combination of speed and downhill running ability that is perfect for attacking opposing defenses up the middle or with the outside zone.
So, where does Texas stand with Durham this spring?
Texas has yet to get Durham to campus for a visit since he was first offered on Feb. 15, 2023. But it sounds like Texas is keeping the idea afloat of getting Durham on the books for a visit this summer if this evaluation continues to check out coming out of the spring.
