Texas football sets official visit with Utah DL commit Isaia Faga

`The summer visit schedules are currently in the works for the 2024 Texas football recruiting class. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian are already building toward something special on the recruiting trail in the 2024 class this summer.

Sark and the Longhorns staff must follow through on a big summer visit season for the 2024 class to really pick up steam, though.

One of the latest official visits added to the summer schedule this week came courtesy of the underrated three-star Utah Utes defensive lineman commit and Phenix City (AL) Central product Isaia Faga. According to a report from Inside Texas’ Gerry Hamilton on April 18 (paid content), Texas is set to host Faga for an official visit to Austin on the massive visit weekend of June 24.

Faga is set to take a multi-day official visit to Texas from June 23-25.

This will be the third time that Faga makes the trip to Austin in 2023. He also visited Texas last weekend for the spring game at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Faga’s first trip to the Forty Acres came on the weekend of Jan. 21 for the first Junior Day of the offseason.

Texas is the school that Faga has visited the most often in 2023. He also visited the Alabama Crimson Tide on March 4 among a couple of other SEC schools during the spring. The official visit in late June will make it three trips to Texas since the Longhorns offered Faga on Dec. 22, 2022.

Defensive line coach Bo Davis and the Longhorns have made a huge push in this recruitment in the last few months. Davis reportedly has one of the best relationships of any position coaches recruiting Faga, outside of the three-star DLs family, as his uncle (Lewis Powell) is the Utah defensive line coach.

It’s also worth noting that Davis is reportedly expected to make the visit to Central High School in the next couple of weeks to see Faga during spring ball in Phenix City.

Faga has seen his recruitment explode on the national scene in the last couple of months. Since the beginning of March, Faga has received offers from the Florida Gators, Washington Huskies, Oregon Ducks, Tennessee Volunteers, and Alabama, among a couple of other Power Five schools.

It looks like some of the recent schools that offered such as Auburn, Florida, and Tennessee will also make the push to get Faga locked in for official visits during the summer and the fall. Utah is also reportedly expected to get one of the official visits from Faga during the fall.

Texas currently holds commitments from two recruits in the 2024 class as of the writing of this article on the night of April 18. According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2024 Texas recruiting class ranks at No. 55 in the nation.
