The only big man to visit Austin among the portal priorities for the Longhorns so far this offseason is the former Virginia Cavaliers redshirt junior center Kadin Shedrick.

Shedrick is the big man that Texas has prioritized in the portal throughout the first month of the offseason. Terry likes what he sees with a big that can defend the rim, score efficiently near the basket, and still run the floor well in transition.

From a multitude of perspectives, Shedrick would be a nice fit either as a starting center for the Longhorns, or the first guy off the bench in the frontcourt unit. Whether Shedrick would start next season on the Forty Acres would hinge on the status of senior big man Dylan Disu.

Moreover, Shedrick was originally scheduled to make a single-day trip to Austin on April 18, before traveling over to Columbia, MO, the following day to see the Mizzou Tigers on April 19.

But Shedrick later updated his visit schedule due to personal reasons.

The updated schedule saw Shedrick begin a multi-day visit to Texas starting on April 17. And I would expect Shedrick’s trip to the 40 either to already be wrapped up as of the writing of this article on the afternoon of April 19 or for it to end shortly.

Shedrick is still set to make the trip to Columbia to see Mizzou at the conclusion of the Texas visit on April 19. And then, he’ll see the Xavier Musketeers (April 23-24) and Duke Blue Devils (April 29-30) in this round of visits.

It’s worth noting that Shedrick also made the trip to Durham to see Duke earlier this month. This will be the second time that he visits the school that is the closest to home among his five finalists.

At the moment, though, this is about as close to a must-win portal recruitment as I’ve seen so far this offseason among big men transfers for the Longhorns.
