Jerrick Gibson, RB

The hottest name in most Texas circles this spring among the elite five-star priorities for Sark and the Longhorns staff is the nation’s No. 1 ranked running back recruit in the 2024 class, and IMG Academy product Jerrick Gibson. Texas has all the momentum right now in the race to land a commitment from Gibson.

Running backs coach Tashard Choice has put the Longhorns in the most favorable spot of any of the top schools in this recruitment. He might have the best relationship of any position coaches that are recruiting Gibson.

Moreover, Choice already showed us he can get the job done on the recruiting trail in the state of Florida by landing the nation’s No. 1 ranked running back recruit in the 2023 class out of Orlando Edgewater High School, CJ Baxter Jr. And it now looks like Choice and the Longhorns are well on their way to landing the nation’s No. 1 ranked running back recruit out of the state of Florida in two straight classes.

Texas has already hosted Gibson for a couple of successful unofficial trips to campus in 2023. The latest visit that Gibson took to the 40 was last weekend for the spring game at DKR. He seemed to be relaxed and comfortable during his trip for the spring game at DKR on April 15.

In fact, he could make a return trip to Austin before his late June official visit, which is obviously a great sign for Texas’ standing in this recruitment heading into the summer.
