Texas Football: 4 elite recruits the coaches visited this week
Kobe Black, CB
The top-ranked cornerback recruit in the state of Texas in the 2024 class, five-star Waco Connally product Kobe Black, is someone the Longhorns are surging for this spring. Texas has a lot of buzz behind the scenes in this recruitment, which has led to a couple of national recruiting analysts/reporters forecasting his commitment to the Longhorns.
Black has tight relationships with cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph and co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Pete Kwiatkowski. And he’s had a couple of successful unofficial visits to Texas since last fall, including for the first Junior Day of the offseason the weekend of Jan. 21.
Joseph and the Longhorns have put the full-court press on Black and his family since the turn of the calendar year. That has resulted in Texas really capturing Black’s attention this offseason.
It looks as if Joseph is expected to make it out to Waco this spring to see Black at Connally High School. Texas would be one of many schools that have sent coaches to see Black this spring at Connally, namely including Florida and the Texas A&M Aggies.
At the moment, it appears that Texas and the Oklahoma Sooners are two of the top schools in the race to land a commitment from Black. And while there is still a long way to go in this recruitment, Texas sits in a great spot coming out of spring ball.
Texas is going to have to keep its foot on the gas through the fall in this recruitment if it wants to have a shot at beating out the likes of Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Florida, the Alabama Crimson Tide, etc. Black is going to have schools courting him literally from coast-to-coast heading into the fall, so Joseph and the Longhorns will have to keep pressing in this one.
