One of the biggest positional needs at this point of the offseason for the Longhorns in the portal is on the wing. Texas needs to add some length and depth on the wing. And two of the portal targets that still stick out that could fill this need that Texas has made contact with this spring are the former USC Trojans freshman shooting guard/small forward Tre White and the former Florida State Seminoles sophomore small forward Matthew Cleveland.

It sounds like the former of those two portal players that Texas has made contact with is the more realistic addition to fill wing depth, though.

Texas would still have to pick up the pace of the communication in the portal with White to make a move in this recruitment. White looks to have more consistent communication with other schools pursuing him in the portal this spring such as the Louisville Cardinals and UCF Knights.

Louisville is the most recent school that White visited, which took place last week.

Moreover, given that we haven’t heard all that much regarding the movement of this portal recruitment for White in the few days, Texas could probably still re-engage in conversations with the reigning PAC-12 All-Freshman Team selection. He could fill one of the biggest needs in the rotation that Texas is still looking for in the portal this offseason.

Most importantly, though, White could be a lengthier wing that would also give the Longhorns a potential starter at the three heading into next season.
