Another potential wing option for the Longhorns in the portal at this point of the offseason is the former Washington State Cougars 6-foot-6 and 215-pound senior small forward DJ Rodman. The Newport Beach, CA, native is one of the more proven and capable wings that are available in the portal right now.

According to EvanMiya, Rodman is the second-best wing currently available in the portal.

Rodman is coming off the best season of his collegiate career at Wazzu during the 2022-23 campaign. In his first season as a full-time starter at Wazzu, Rodman averaged 10 points and six rebounds while shooting 41 percent from the field and 38 percent from deep. Each of those four per-game stats and shooting percentages for Rodman last season were good for career bests.

What a wing like Rodman could bring to the table for the Longhorns is a solid two-way wing that could fill a role either as a sixth or seventh-man coming off the bench or starting at the three. Rodman is a solid on-ball defender, who was one of the best on that end of the floor at Wazzu over the course of the last three seasons.

He posted a defensive box plus/minus better than 1.0 in each of the last three seasons, making him one of just a few wings to do so in the PAC-12 during that stretch.

Rodman is also a switchable defender that could bring some valuable length to the table for the Longhorns.

I like the idea of Texas adding a three-and-D wing that could bring some much-needed length to the rotation for the 2023-24 season. Rodman fits the mold of what Texas is looking for in a lengthy wing or forward.
