There were two true freshman wide receivers that made an immediate impression on the coaches during spring ball. In fact, I am confident enough in saying that the two true freshmen wideouts on this list were able to impress the coaches and their teammates before the start of spring ball. We were hearing good things about the levels of preparation and mindsets of the early enrollees in the wide receiver room in January and February.

The first of the two true freshmen wideouts I want to discuss here is the former four-star recruit out of St. John Bosco High School in California DeAndre Moore Jr. Moore looked the part of a wideout ready to come in and get down to business right away during the spring semester.

And that reflected in Moore’s play on the practice field at the outset of spring camp in early March. Moore stuck out as one of the wideouts that was clearly ready to make an impact on the field this fall considering how much maturity he showed on the practice field this spring.

Despite some hiccups here and there (we have to remember that he’s still a true freshman), Moore was able to show out as one of the best route runners and one of the wideouts with the most consistent hands on the team from what we heard during spring ball.

Moore proved more than enough during the spring that he’s ready to compete for a spot on the two-deep at field receiver heading into fall camp. I’d also imagine that Moore’s rise during the spring was a big reason why wideouts such as Jaden Alexis and Brenen Thompson entered the transfer portal last month.
