Texas football trending for elite 5-Star CB target Kobe Black
It’s starting to feel like Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian are on the brink of making a special run on the recruiting trail in the 2024 class this summer. Texas is building up another massive summer visitor list, which is largely comprised of priority recruits in the 2024 class that have fantastic relationships with these coaches.
That is akin to the feeling we got last summer when Sark and the Longhorns staff were building a massive wave of momentum on the recruiting trail in the 2023 class. We also saw Texas have a massive group of summer official visitors make their way to campus last offseason.
And one of the top targets that the Longhorns recently nailed down for an official visit in the 2024 class this summer is the elite five-star Waco Connally cornerback Kobe Black. Texas is set to host Black on an official visit to Austin from June 23-25.
But Texas already looks to be in a great spot in this recruitment heading into the summer. In fact, Texas had multiple On3 RPM picks placed in the last couple of weeks projecting it to land Black’s commitment.
Texas football said by multiple recruiting analysts/reporters to be in the lead for 5-Star CB Kobe Black
Gerry Hamilton of On3/Inside Texas placed an RPM pick on May 7 with a high confidence level (7.5 out of 10) for Texas to be the pick for the elite Waco Connally cornerback. On3 national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman also put in an RPM pick on April 25 with a moderate level of confidence (5.5 out of 10) projecting Black’s commitment to Texas.
Texas was the trendy school in this recruitment throughout the spring. He’s got great relationships with some of the coaches, especially CB coach Terry Joseph, and good connections with some of the summer enrollees for the Longhorns. He was teammates with four-star Waco Connally athlete and 2023 Texas signee Jelani Woods.
Heading into the summer, Texas pretty clearly looks to be in the driver’s seat in this recruitment. Some of the other schools trying to make moves with Black this spring are the Texas A&M Aggies, Oklahoma Sooners, and TCU Horned Frogs, among a handful of others.
