There are a plethora of new targets at multiple position groups for the 2024 Texas football recruiting class in the midst of the spring evaluation period. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian have sent out some recent offers to rising targets in the 2024 class that are pretty intriguing.

The spring is also a crucial time for the Longhorns staff to be able to nail down official visits with the top targets in the 2024 class. Whether that be new offers that Texas is finding traction with in the last few months or established targets that are priorities in this class, this staff needs to make the most of what is building up to be a big summer visit season.

One of the wide receiver targets in the 2024 class that the Longhorns are pushing for this spring, and that could visit this summer, is a blue-chip Oregon Ducks commit out of California.

The highly touted four-star Newport Beach (CA) Newport Harbor wide receiver and Oregon commit Jordan Anderson is someone that Texas is still reaching out to this spring. And it sounds like Texas is pushing for an official visit from the speedy and potent playmaker Anderson this summer.

Justin Wells of Inside Texas reported on May 8 (paid content) that the Longhorns are working on “setting an official visit to UT” this offseason. In fact, it sounds like it’s only a matter of time before Texas nails down this official visit for Anderson to see Austin for a second time.

It’s also worth noting that Texas might be the only school that Anderson officially visits this summer, at least from what this report is hinting at. This would be big for Texas to be able to officially get Anderson’s OV on the books for what I would presume would be at some point in June.

Texas football reportedly close to getting 4-Star Oregon WR commit Jordan Anderson scheduled for an official visit

If Texas is pushing this hard for a west coast wide receiver recruit, Sark and new wide receivers coach Chris Jackson clearly values his skill set and potential at the collegiate level.

Moreover, Anderson has reaffirmed that he is fully committed to Oregon at multiple stops since he gave his pledge to the Ducks in December 2022. That isn’t going to stop Sark, Jackson, and the Longhorns from keeping their foot on the gas in this recruitment at this point of the offseason, though.

We’ve seen Texas recruit priority wide receivers on the trail through the whistle before in the last few cycles. And if Texas winds up getting Anderson on campus for an official visit at some point next month, then the Longhorns probably won’t be in a position to throw in the towel in this recruitment heading into the fall.

Anderson is one of the higher-rated out-of-state wide receiver offers in the 2024 class for the Longhorns. He also appears to be one of the top priorities among out-of-state wideouts heading into the summer.
