The only transfer addition on this list for the Longhorns that wasn’t on campus during the spring is the former Stanford Cardinal senior punter Ryan Sanborn. The highest-graded punter in the PAC-12 in 2022 will enroll at Texas next month for the summer semester.

Why Sanborn made this list among the transfer winners is that the need to add a leg like his to the special teams unit became very apparent.

Texas needs more consistency in the punting game after a duo that consisted of Isaac Pearson and Daniel Trejo was up and down at best last season. Sanborn should give Texas that consistent field-flipping presence for the punting unit that was needed oftentimes during the 2022 campaign.

Sark spoke on what Texas is getting in Sanborn as part a Touchdown Club of Houston luncheon a couple of weeks ago.

"“He’s graduating from Stanford this spring and he’ll be with us this June. We’re excited to have a veteran punter back there who can do all the different style of kicks that are important to us.”"

I fully expect Sanborn to arrive ready to go this summer. Despite him not enrolling during the spring semester to participate in camp, he was still able to partake in punting drills in the last few months since he originally committed to Texas.

Sanborn was a very technical punter at Stanford, and he will help to provide a necessary upgrade to the special teams unit this fall.
