Another new addition for the Longhorns that was limited throughout spring camp is the former Arkansas Razorbacks senior transfer safety Jalen Catalon. It was a bit disappointing not to get to see Catalon participate fully in drills while he was getting accustomed to the new defensive scheme under Pete Kwiatkowski.

Catalon arrived on the Forty Acres this semester with high expectations in terms of the impact he could make on this defense at the safety position. When healthy, Catalon was a high-flying playmaker at safety for the Razorbacks in the last few seasons.

During the two seasons where Catalon actually played at least a half-dozen games at Arkansas, he registered nearly 150 combined tackles, four tackles for loss, five interceptions, eight pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

Although, Catalon’s problem at Arkansas was staying healthy. Most of his collegiate career to date has seemingly been spent rehabbing from various injury issues. And it looks like he will still be working his way back fully from an upper-body injury that he arrived on the 40 with this semester.

We will be following Catalon’s continued rehab closely as it now looks like he’s on the precipice of making a full return for summer workouts.
