This weekend is a surprisingly big one on the recruiting trail for head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program in the midst of the spring evaluation period. Texas is set to host a few blue-chip visitors in Austin this weekend, all of which were booked for these trips in the last couple of weeks.

Sark and the Longhorns staff have a chance this weekend to continue to build a lot of momentum on the recruiting trail in the 2024 and 2025 classes before the start of a critical official visit season next month. Texas started to build some momentum on the recruiting trail during the spring and in the midst of winter workouts.

The Longhorns hosted two more than a dozen visitors each on two big Junior Day weekends (Jan. 21 and March 25) so far this offseason. There was also a big visit weekend that took place during the spring game on April 15.

For Texas to continue building a wave of momentum on the trail, though, this staff must keep their foot on the gas with some of these smaller visit weekends heading into the summer. With that in mind, here’s a look at an assessment of the three biggest visitors set to be on the 40 this weekend for the Longhorns.

Cobey Sellers, CB

One of the three blue-chip recruits that are visiting Texas this weekend is the touted 2025 four-star Pearland (TX) Shadow Creek cornerback Cobey Sellers. The 6-foot and 165-pound blue-chip cornerback recruit is one of the recent offers in the 2025 class for the Longhorns.

Texas offered Sellers on April 13, 2023, in the midst of the spring evaluation period.

It looks like the versatility and high physical upside that Sellers brings to the table caught the eye of cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph and co-defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski. Sellers plays multiple positions on three sides of the ball during his time at Fort Bend Christian, prior to transferring to Shadow Creek High School following the conclusion of the 2022 season.

This will be a good opportunity for Texas to connect and form a good relationship with one of the top 200 recruits in the nation in the 2025 class. If Sellers and the Texas coaches hit it off this weekend, I would expect him to be one of the in-state cornerbacks to watch in the 2025 class heading into the summer.
