A top in-state defensive back priority for cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph and the Longhorns heading into the summer is the highly touted four-star Temple (TX) Lake Belton cornerback Selman Bridges. Texas has made it clear that Bridges is one of the most wanted defensive backs in the 2024 class this spring.

Most of the buzz in this recruitment has favored Texas in the last few months. Since he made the unofficial trip to Austin for the second Junior Day of the offseason on March 25, Texas is the trendy pick in the race to land a commitment from Bridges.

Texas will take a swing at shutting down this recruitment when it hosts Bridges for his official visit to Austin on that huge visit weekend on the recruiting trail in late June. Bridges will be one of more than a dozen official visitors on campus on the weekend of June 24, which signifies that he is a priority among the in-state recruits in this class.

While there are a number of important recruits on the Longhorns’ radar that are officially visiting on the other two visit weekends in June, it is clear that the weekend of June 24 is the biggest.

Moreover, it should help Texas that it gets the final official visit among those currently on the books for Bridges this summer. Texas will be able to get the final word among the in-person visits after Bridges sees the TCU Horned Frogs (June 8) and Arkansas Razorbacks (June 16).

Texas is the pretty clear favorite in this recruitment heading into the summer as Bridges is one of the clear must-get in-state prospects for the Longhorns in the 2024 class.
