Kobe Black, CB

The other top-tier in-state defensive back we’ve mentioned on this list that will be on campus for the official visit weekend starting on June 23 is the elite five-star Waco (TX) Connally cornerback Kobe Black. Texas will get Black back to campus for a visit for the first time since the first Junior Day of the offseason (Jan. 21) starting on June 23.

Black is another priority defensive back recruit for the Longhorns in the 2024 class that Texas is trending for heading into the summer. Texas looks to be in a fantastic spot right now among Black’s top schools as he’s got fantastic relationships with Joseph and co-DC Pete Kwiatkowski.

Joseph, PK, and the Longhorns have made it pretty clear that Black is the most wanted cornerback recruit in the 2024 class. And it sounds like he’s been very receptive to that selling point, as Texas has looked the part of the leader in this recruitment throughout the spring.

We keep hearing that Texas is also selling the ability for Black to compete for a starting spot right away. Texas could be losing redshirt junior cornerback Ryan Watts to the 2024 NFL Draft if he decides to declare early next offseason. If that does happen, that opens the door for Black to start as a true freshman next year.

Texas will get the second of the two official visits that Black currently has slated for the month of June. The Ohio State Buckeyes will get the first official visit on June 16, and then Black will make his way to Austin for the big official visit weekend on the 40 starting on June 23.
