Among the newest Texas offers in the 2024 class late this spring is the four-star Valley Village (CA) Campbell Hall School linebacker Kamar Mothudi. The sizable 6-foot-3 and 225-pound linebacker out of California just received an offer from Texas on May 8, 2023. He was one of the late offers that was extended by Jeff Choate and the Longhorns during the spring evaluation period this offseason.

Despite the late offer, though, Texas still made the cut for Mothudi’s top five, which he dropped on social media on May 27. The other four schools that made the top five for Mothudi are the Oregon Ducks, Washington Huskies, Utah Utes, and Michigan State Spartans.

While Texas did offer Mothudi earlier this month, the communication was apparently there since January. PK and the Longhorns laid the groundwork to make a run at this recruitment during the summer months ago.

Texas will get its shot to make an impression on Mothudi when he makes the official visit to Austin on June 20. Heading into the official visit, Texas will be looking to make up some ground on the presumed leader Oregon, who has a relationship with Mothudi that goes back well over a year.

It’s interesting that Texas is getting Mothudi in for an official visit on the same day as four-star priority in-state linebacker Tyanthony Smith. That could be a show of confidence that Texas thinks it could get both blue-chip linebackers to fill up this position group in the 2024 class.

Mothudi is a versatile and physically-gifted linebacker that certainly has the athletic characteristics of a player that could contribute early in college. He also has the versatility to be able to play inside or outside at the linebacker position given his ranginess and size.
