Jordan Washington, TE

After Texas offered the fast-rising three-star Houston (TX) Langham Creek tight end Jordan Washington on May 2, it already looked like the Longhorns were in a great position in this recruitment. In fact, there were multiple major recruiting services that had analysts and reporters already projecting Washington’s commitment to Texas.

The Texas offer clearly made a big impression on Washington. Special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks and the Longhorns did a nice job getting their foot in the door in this recruitment before some of the bigger offers for Washington started pouring in.

Since Texas offered on May 2, Washington has received subsequent offers from the likes of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas A&M Aggies, Baylor Bears, and Mississippi State Bulldogs, among others.

Banks and the Longhorns are looking at Washington as a high-upside receiving tight end that could be a quality contributor to the passing game two or three years down the line. If Texas could get a two tight end class with key priorities at the position such as Swanson and Washington, that would be huge for this group heading into the future.
