For the second time in as many days, head coach David Pierce and the two-seed Texas baseball will duke it out with the top-seed regional host and No. 9 Miami Hurricanes in the Coral Gables Regional. This time around, though, Texas will be taking on Miami in the regional final with a shot at making it to super regionals for the third year in a row.

Pierce and the Longhorns have actually made it to the College World Series in two consecutive postseason appearances, dating back to the 2021 season. Texas has also made it to the College World Series in four consecutive postseason appearances, dating back to the 2018 season.

Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, though, there is a game to watch for the Longhorns as it looks to close out the Coral Gables Regional to round out the weekend. Texas will face Miami in the regional final (Game 6) after taking down the Hurricanes in Game 4 of this regional on June 3, by the final score of 4-1.

Sophomore Lebarron Johnson Jr. was a stud on the mound for the Longhorns in their three-run win over the Canes on June 3. He pitched his first career complete game, going the distance and allowing just one earned run in nine innings against Miami.

Texas takes a record of 40-20 (15-9 Big 12) into the regional final after taking down the Canes and the three-seed Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns in Game 1 in Coral Gables on June 2, by the final score of 4-2.

Meanwhile, Miami carries a record of 42-20 (18-12 ACC) into the regional final after downing Louisiana by a score of 8-5 in Game 5 on June 4. Miami has defeated Louisiana and the four-seed Maine Black Bears for its two wins in this regional. Miami’s win over Louisiana early in the day on June 4 kept it alive to advance to the regional final against Texas.

Here’s a look at the TV/streaming information and betting odds as the two-seed Texas gets set to face the top-seed Miami in the Coral Gables Regional final on June 4, with the first pitch time set for 5 p.m. CT.

Since Texas already trotted out junior left-hander Lucas Gordon and the aforementioned Johnson in their prior two regional games this weekend, a viable assumption could be that the 6-foot-6 sophomore right-hander Tanner Witt will get the start for the Horns. Witt was the third starter in Texas’ weekend rotation in its last three weekend series to close out the regular season.

Yet, we don’t have an official announcement as to who Texas’ starter will be in the regional final on June 4.

If Texas does get the win over Miami on this night, it will advance to the super regionals to face the winner of the Stanford Regional.
