Texas Football: No. 1 2025 RB had ‘amazing’ visit to Austin last weekend
The biggest month of the year so far for Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian just wrapped up its first visit weekend a couple of days ago. Texas had a few dozen visiting recruits on campus last weekend for the Elite Camp, namely from the 2025 and 2026 recruiting classes.
A number of new offers were extended coming out of Texas’ Elite Camp last weekend, and some rising priority recruits in the 2025 and 2026 classes got to visit campus unofficially for the first time. Making those initial connections proves to be crucial for Sark and the Longhorns staff on the recruiting trail, as could be the case with the nation’s No. 1 ranked running back recruit (in ESPN and On3) in the 2025 class.
Texas football knocks it out of the park with No. 1 2025 RB recruit Harlem Berry
The nation’s No. 1 running back recruit in the 2025 class, four-star Metairie (LA) St. Martin’s Episcopal School product Harlem Berry, made his first trip to the Forty Acres last weekend. And it sounds like he came away impressed by what he heard from the coaches and saw on campus during the unofficial trip for the Elite Camp.
Justin Wells of Inside Texas reported on June 5 (paid content) that Berry said it was an “amazing visit” to Texas last weekend. He also stated “I love Coach Choice” in this report from IT.
It’s clear that running backs coach Tashard Choice and the Longhorns made a big impression on the elite running back recruit out of Louisiana. This visit could very well put Texas on Berry’s radar as he starts to figure out the schools he will realistically consider in the recruiting process moving forward.
Texas was able to make a move in this recruitment just by the very fact that Berry made it to campus for his first visit to Texas last weekend. But the fact that he was able to make these connections with Choice and the Texas coaches should help the Longhorns.
Berry is still in the very early stages of the recruiting process heading into the summer. The LSU Tigers are considered the frontrunner in this recruitment early on, but that doesn’t mean that he will be a slam dunk for head coach Brian Kelly to get a commitment out of.
Texas had multiple blue-chip running back recruits from the 2025 class on campus for the Elite Camp last weekend, highlighted by Berry and high four-star Mater Dei product Jordon Davison. Choice and the Longhorns will look to continue their success on the recruiting trail at the running back position as they’ve already found some early top priorities for this cycle.
