Texas Football: 3 priority recruits KJ Lacey can help the Horns land
Antonio Coleman, DL
A recent offer that Texas sent out was to a blue-chip teammate of Lacey in the 2025 class, and the touted four-star Saraland defensive lineman Antonio Coleman. Texas offered the 6-foot-2 and 270-pound Coleman on June 5, just a few days after Lacey committed to the Longhorns in the midst of the Elite Camp.
It looks like the offer resonated with Coleman as he recently said that he wants to make the visit to Austin soon. Coleman told Hank South of Horns247 (paid content) in a piece that was published on June 6 that he wants to see Texas “as soon as possible”.
"“I watched Texas play against Alabama. I just love how they moved, how they do stuff out there. I’d love to learn more about it this year. This year I’d definitely love to get to know them better.”"
Coleman told Horns247 that he’s never been to Austin before, but that he “has to go out there”. He even mentioned at one point in this article that he “should be visiting Texas this month”.
This could definitely be an unofficial visit to watch for the 2025 cycle in the near future for the Longhorns.
Lacey’s commitment to Texas should play a major role in the direction of this recruitment. Coleman has made it clear that Lacey’s commitment to Texas made an impression on him. And given the SEC connections that defensive line coach Bo Davis has on the recruiting trail, this should be a recruitment that Texas can make a big push in.
Coleman is one of many blue-chip out-of-state defensive line recruits that Davis and the Longhorns have offered already in the 2025 class. And if Texas can make a big impression on Coleman when he’s able to make the trip to Austin for the first time this offseason, the Longhorns will have to be considered a real contender in this recruitment.
