The most unlikely of the recruits on this list for Lacey and the Longhorns to be able to get in this class is the nation’s top-ranked wide receiver recruit in the 2025 class, five-star Saraland (AL) product Ryan Williams. Lacey’s teammate is one of the top-ranked prospects in the nation in the 2025 class, and the best wide receiver recruit according to essentially every major recruiting service.

The problem that Sark and the Longhorns staff would face in getting Williams in this class is the fact that he is currently committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Williams is an Alabama native that committed to the Crimson Tide early in this cycle.

When head coach Nick Saban and the Tide get someone committed that’s a top in-state priority recruit this early in the cycle, it’s hard to see them backing off that pledge at any point. But that won’t stop the Texas coaching staff from taking their swing at flipping Williams’ commitment from Alabama.

Texas is going to try to utilize the connection through Lacey to get Williams to campus as much as possible during the summer and the fall. And it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest to see Williams show up on campus at least a couple of times this year.

Despite being committed to Alabama for almost nine months now, Williams is still taking visits to other schools this offseason. In the last three months alone, Williams has tripped to the Georgia Bulldogs (March 30), Auburn Tigers (March 20 and April 8), and LSU Tigers (June 2).

Texas has already offered Williams and I would imagine Sark and Jackson will get down to work right away this summer trying to chip away at his commitment to Bama.

It’s also worth noting the Instagram story that Williams posted last weekend after Lacey committed to Texas. Texas definitely caught Williams’ attention with the abrupt commitment from Lacey last weekend.
