Road games

Texas A&M

For the first time since the 2011 season, the Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies will duke it out as conference foes on the gridiron. It was reported earlier in the morning of June 14 that Texas will play Texas A&M as one of its road SEC opponents next season.

Kyle Field will be the site of one of the most highly anticipated soon-to-be renewed rivalries in college football.

This isn’t all that surprising, though, as Texas A&M was figured to be the second-most anticipated matchup in SEC play for the Longhorns in 2024 behind Oklahoma. When the idea was pitched for the SEC to have three permanent opponents annually for each team, it looked like Texas A&M would be a given in the Longhorns’ group.

Arkansas

It didn’t take long for the longtime rivalry between Texas and the Arkansas Razorbacks to be picked back up in Fayetteville. Texas and Arkansas last met on the gridiron at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville during the 2021 season. Head coach Sam Pittman and the Hogs got the best of Texas by a score of 40-21 in that 2021 matchup.

Texas will be looking to avenge its loss to the Razorbacks on the road in 2021 with a win when these two teams meet again in Fayetteville next fall.

If Texas-Arkansas becomes a permanent annual rivalry in the SEC, I don’t think many Longhorns or Razorbacks fans would be mad about it.
