The first major official visit weekend of the month for Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian is set to begin on June 16. Texas will host nearly two dozen official visitors among targets from the 2024 class this weekend, most staying on campus until June 18.

But Sark and the Longhorns staff kicked off this critical visit week for the 2024 class roughly 36 hours before most of the visiting recruits arrived on campus this weekend. Sark, new wide receivers coach Chris Jackson, and the Longhorns hosted a top priority recruit in the 2024 class on an unofficial visit on June 15.

The elite five-star Temple (TX) Lake Belton wide receiver priority Micah Hudson made his first unofficial trip to the 40 since the first Junior Day of the offseason (Jan. 21) on June 15. He made the unofficial visit just one day before starting his official visit in Lubbock to see head coach Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Texas football and Chris Jackson have successful unofficial visit with 5-Star WR Micah Hudson

This was a significant visit for the Longhorns before Hudson starts his official trip to Lubbock this weekend. Texas and Texas Tech are considered the two top schools in the race to land a commitment from Hudson heading into the summer.

Texas will try to get Hudson on campus as often as possible during the summer and the fall.

And it sounds like this visit went really well for Hudson to see Texas earlier this week. He spent time with Sark and Jackson and witnessed team workouts during the summer strength and conditioning program.

Hudson Standish of Horns247 reported on June 16 (paid content) that Hudson had a “really good time” on the short visit to campus on June 15. During his unofficial visit, he reportedly saw team drills and 7v7 work for the Longhorns.

He also got to evaluate some film with Jackson. The new Texas wide receivers coach assessed some of Hudson’s film along with some from the Texas wideouts.

It seems like Hudson enjoyed being able to break down this film and get to spend time with Jackson along with the rest of the Texas staff.

He specifically mentioned that he “was able to pick up a good vibe with Coach Jackson” and that they have a “good relationship”. Another key nugget that caught my eye in this report from Horns247 was Hudson saying, “I can definitely trust him [Jackson] with my development”.

Knowing how important the player development and production factor is for Hudson, it’s huge that Jackson is selling him on his NFL background and ability to develop top-tier wide receiver talent.

We will be following Hudson’s official visit this weekend to Texas Tech with a keen eye. This will be Hudson’s most important visit before he makes the official trip to Texas one weekend after, specifically starting on June 23.
