Texas Football: 4-Star IOL Daniel Cruz committing this evening

Another day, another commitment announcement coming for a key target along the offensive line for the 2024 Texas football recruiting class. The next decision date for a key target of Texas’ 2024 recruiting class this week is the touted four-star North Richland Hills (TX) Richland interior offensive lineman Daniel Cruz.

Cruz announced on his Twitter page on the afternoon of June 28 that he will be committing at 6 p.m. CT. He also posted a countdown clock on his Instagram story on June 28, showing a timer until 6 p.m. CT.

Texas heads into Cruz’s decision as the heavy favorite to land his commitment this evening. Cruz is widely considered a Texas lean over the Oklahoma Sooners, Texas A&M Aggies, and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Cruz visited Texas officially last weekend, his fourth time making the trip to Austin since the first Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 21. This was one of Cruz’s best visits yet to the 40 for his official trip last weekend.

Before the Texas visit last weekend, Cruz took officials to Oklahoma (June 16), Texas A&M (June 9), and Ohio State (June 2). Oklahoma and Ohio State made late pushes in this recruitment in the last few months. But neither visit to Norman or Columbus earlier this month made much of a dent in Texas’ lead in the race to land a commitment from Cruz.

Need more proof of Texas leading to land Cruz’s commitment when he announces in a few hours? Look at recent forecasts projecting his pledge to the Longhorns in the last three weeks. Since mid-June, there have been over a half-dozen forecasts, all projecting Cruz’s commitment to Texas.

Cruz is a top interior offensive line priority for offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns in the 2024 class. He is viewed as a center for Flood and the Longhorns in the 2024 class.

Texas currently holds commitments from seven recruits in the 2024 class after pulling in two pledges during the big June 23-25 official visit weekend. According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2024 Texas recruiting class ranks No. 56 in the nation.
