Texas football receives two crystal ball picks for elite 2024 athlete
By Shane Black
Texas football is amidst a massive summer recruiting push which may only amplify when four-star Daingerfield (TX) athlete Aeryn Hampton announces his commitment on July 7.
Hampton received two crystal ball predictions on Monday in favor of the Longhorns. Former Texas Insider and current 247Sports national recruiting analyst Mike Roach logged a crystal ball for Hampton to Texas with medium confidence. On3 national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman also logged a Hampton to Texas crystal ball. He attached a 60 percent confidence with the pick.
Hampton was one of the first players in Texas’ 2024 class, committing to the Longhorns in February 2022. Nine months later, he decommitted from Texas, reopening his recruitment as one of the best athletes in the country.

On Friday, the Daingerfield product will decide between the Longhorns and the Alabama Crimson Tide. It seems to be a coin flip, with 247Sports and On3 giving the Horns just north of a 50 percent chance to bring Hampton back into its class.
Whoever lands the signature of Hampton will be getting an elite, do-it-all football player with a high ceiling on both sides of the football. Hampton finished his junior season with 55 receptions for 1,161 yards and 13 touchdowns. He added 74 tackles, nine interceptions, three fumbles recoveries, and two forced fumbles on the defensive side of the ball.
Currently, it seems like Texas has been recruiting Hampton on the defensive side of the ball. Safeties coach Blake Gideon has been his primary recruiter, and defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski sees Hampton in the nickel role for the Horns.
If Hampton is to announce his commitment to the Longhorns on Friday, he would be the 12th commit in the 2024 class and the 10th in the last three weeks. Hampton would join a skill position group that features wide receivers Freddie Dubose Jr. and Parker Livingstone and defensive backs Jordon Johnson-Rubell and Santana Wilson.
