Potentially the most impactful newcomer right away this fall for the Longhorns will be the former Georgia Bulldogs sophomore wide receiver transfer AD Mitchell. The 6-foot-3 rising junior boundary receiver has looked the part of a standout for the Texas offense since the spring.

Nothing we’ve heard in the last few weeks this summer contradicts the sentiment coming out of the program this offseason that Mitchell will be amazing for the Longhorns right away.

We mentioned on the site earlier this week that Mitchell has looked like one of the best players on the team this offseason. He and fellow junior wide receiver Xavier Worthy have separated themselves as two of the most dangerous weapons Sark and the Longhorns have at wideout heading into the 2023 season.

Specifically in 7v7, Mitchell has stood out as one of the toughest covers and wideouts with the largest catch radius this summer. As he’s gotten more and more comfortable in this offense, Mitchell continues to show his skills and gifted physical tools.

The difference between game speed and 7v7 during the summer is obviously much different. But the fact that we’re hearing Mitchell is getting much more comfortable in the offense while continuing the look the part of one of the best players on the team in the last few weeks is extremely encouraging in terms of how he’ll be able to impact the offense this fall.
