Zina Umeozulu, EDGE

One of the top in-state edge rusher priorities for the Longhorns in the 2024 class heading into the fall is the touted four-star Allen (TX) product Zina Umeozulu. The brother of former four-star interior offensive line recruit, and sophomore Texas OL Neto Umeozulu is deciding between Texas and Oklahoma.

There is always a certain element of mystery and surprise in Umeozulu recruitments. This was the case for Neto, who didn’t have a clear leader in his recruitment until the last days before he announced his commitment to Texas in the 2022 class.

If Texas can keep Zina around campus often during the fall and he has good experiences, the Longhorns should be the pick when he’s ready to announce.

Daniel Cruz, IOL

The first of two recruits currently committed to the Longhorns’ 2024 class on this list, four-star North Richlands Hills (TX) Richland interior offensive lineman Daniel Cruz, is the most important OL recruit for Flood at the moment. That could change if Texas lands a commitment from Baker in the next few months.

Cruz isn’t on this list because I think he’s in danger of being flipped from the Longhorns. But his importance to this class can’t be understated since Flood clearly identified him as the center of the future on the Forty Acres. Texas needs help at center in the long term, and Cruz will be that guy for Texas in the SEC.
