Ryan Wingo, WR

The two top wide receiver targets remaining for the Longhorns in the 2024 class heading into the fall are five-stars, Micah Hudson and Ryan Wingo. Hudson is a strong Texas Tech Red Raiders lean, but the Longhorns are still in contact with the elite wideout out of Temple (TX) Lake Belton High School.

Meanwhile, after his summer official visits, Texas is among Wingo’s top schools. There was a point this summer when Texas had momentum in this recruitment. But there is still a long way to go before Wingo’s scheduled commitment date on Dec. 20, 2023. He told 247Sports that he wants to visit the Miami Hurricanes, Tennessee Volunteers, and Texas A&M before he decides.

The Georgia Bulldogs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Mizzou Tigers are also involved among Wingo’s top schools, along with Texas.

Brandon Baker, OT

The No. 1 offensive tackle recruit in the nation in the 2024 class, the elite five-star Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei product Brandon Baker, is at the top of the board at the position this summer for offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns. Texas sits in a good spot for Baker after a successful pair of visits, including an official in late June and an unofficial for the spring game in mid-April.

Texas and the Oregon Ducks are the top two schools in the race to land a commitment from Baker heading into the fall. Ohio State is also still involved in this recruitment for the uber-talented 6-foot-5 and 300-pound California native offensive tackle.

Texas’ pitch in this recruitment is immediate playing time since Baker could take over for redshirt senior offensive tackle Christian Jones when he runs out of eligibility next offseason.
