Texas Football: 5-Star EDGE target Jordan Ross sets commitment date
Among the top edge rusher targets for the 2024 Texas football recruiting class heading into the fall is the elite five-star Birmingham (AL) Vestavia Hills product Jordan Ross. The No. 1 prospect out of Alabama in the 2024 class in the 247Sports Composite reportedly (per On3) has a commitment date set for Aug. 21.
Ross will decide between the Florida Gators, Tennessee Volunteers, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Texas on Aug. 21.

The elite Alabama edge rusher told On3 that his “great experience” during his official visit to Texas in mid-June is why the Longhorns are one of his four finalist schools heading into his commitment date next week.
"“Was a great experience that allowed me to see different aspects of the game and see how the coaches are able to develop me.”"

Texas potentially getting Ross back to Austin for a return visit this fall
Texas has remained involved in this recruitment since Ross took a mid-June official visit to Austin. He had a good experience during his mid-June official visit. Since that official visit a couple of months ago, Texas has kept in contact with Ross.
It was reported early this week that Ross intends to make a return visit unofficially to Texas this fall for a game at DKR. But there wasn’t a specific date for when he could make that return visit for a game weekend on the 40.
Tennessee a constant factor in this recruitment
The one school that has remained among the top group for Ross throughout the offseason is Tennessee. Florida and Tennessee were the two SEC teams to beat in this recruitment heading into the summer official visits. But Florida fell behind the Vols in the race to land a commitment from Ross late this summer.
Tennessee looks to be the leader in this recruitment less than a week before Ross’s decision date.
We’ll see if Texas continues to push to get Ross back to campus for a game at DKR this season, assuming the Longhorns aren’t the pick on Aug. 21.
