The visitor list continues to grow for Texas football heading into the regular season opener this weekend against the Rice Owls. Texas will host multiple blue-chip recruits from the 2024 and 2025 classes for the Rice game at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Sep. 2, with kickoff at 2:30 p.m. CT.

Another significant visitor was added to the list for the Longhorns for the opener this weekend on the afternoon of Aug. 30. The elite blue-chip 2025 New Iberia (LA) Westgate cornerback Jaboree Antoine announced on social media on Aug. 30 that he will visit Texas this weekend for the Rice game.

This will be Antoine’s first return visit to the Forty Acres since he made an unofficial visit over the summer. It will also be the first time that Antoine visits Texas for a game at DKR since the Longhorns offered in late April 2023.

Texas is one of the top schools early in Antoine’s recruitment. It was reported last month that Texas and the LSU Tigers are “setting the pace” among Antoine’s top schools during the summer.

Antoine told Inside Texas/On3’s Justin Wells that the Tennessee Volunteers, Florida State Seminoles, Texas, and LSU are the schools he’s in contact with “on a day-to-day basis”.

Texas can continue to build the relationship with Antoine this weekend while putting the defense on display

Antoine also told Wells that he wants to see a high-flying and energetic defense making plays for the Longhorns this weekend for the Rice game.

"“A whole lot of guys flying around with energy and making plays.”"

Texas’ defense should be able to take advantage of facing an overmatched Rice offense led by three-time transfer quarterback JT Daniels. A good performance from the defense and giving Antoine another good experience on the 40 this weekend will help Texas continue to build the relationship in this recruitment.
