Texas football remains busy on the recruiting trail with the 2023 regular season underway after the home win in the opener on Sep. 2 over the Rice Owls. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian hosted more than a half-dozen blue-chip recruits from the 2024 and 2025 classes for the Rice game at DKR last weekend.

The Longhorns have many more visit weekends to see big-time recruits make their way to campus this fall. A particular 2024 recruit committed elsewhere that the Longhorns remain in contact with and are looking to set up a visit for this fall is four-star Texas A&M Aggies safety commit/Converse (TX) Judson product, Myles Davis.

Texas remains in communication with Davis, albeit the push for the blue-chip in-state safety recruit isn’t the greatest it could be. It sounds like Texas is working to set up a visit with Davis for a game weekend at DKR this fall.

Texas football could get 4-Star Texas A&M S commit Myles Davis to Austin for a game this fall

Horns247 reported on Sep. 2 (paid content) that Davis is possibly looking at the matchup between Texas and the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Black Friday (Nov. 24) for a return visit to Austin this fall. He also mentioned a return trip to College Station for a game this fall.

This could be interesting timing if Texas gets Davis on the books for a visit for the last game of the season, less than a month before the Early Signing Period in mid-December. If Texas puts its foot on the gas in this recruitment in the next few months, it could make for a wild ride heading into signing day.

Davis has visited Texas multiple times during the offseason

Texas hosted Davis for multiple visits during the offseason. He visited for both Junior Days during the offseason (March 25 and Jan. 21). Davis also made a mid-June official visit to Austin. He also took official visits to see Texas A&M (June 9) and the USC Trojans (May 19) during the offseason.

Safeties coach Blake Gideon and the Longhorns were a big player in Davis’ recruitment during the first half of the offseason. His decision during the summer came down to Texas and Texas A&M before he committed to the Aggies on July 12.
