Texas Football: 10 key recruits impressed by Longhorns win over Bama
Ryan Williams, WR (Alabama commit) & KJ Lacey, QB (UT commit)
The biggest dominoes that Texas fans are watching to fall on the recruiting trail will be with the top priority recruits that are either uncommitted or committed elsewhere in the 2024 and 2025 classes. One of Texasâ highest-rated offers in the 2025 class, five-star Saraland (AL) wide receiver/Alabama commit Ryan Williams, noticed what the Longhorns did at Bryant-Denny Stadium against the Tide this weekend.
In fact, Williams was one of the Alabama visitors for the big-time matchup in Tuscaloosa on Sep. 9.
Williams said after the game that he considers Texas one of his top three schools, along with the Auburn Tigers and Alabama. And while it is a long road ahead for Texas to potentially flip Williamsâ commitment from Alabama in the 2025 class, it sounds like theyâve made progress chipping away at his pledge in the last few months.
Williams told Horns247 after Texasâ win over Alabama that heâs looking to visit the Longhorns for a game at DKR this fall.
Kobe Black, CB
Texasâ âmust winâ recruitment in the 2024 class this fall involves the elite five-star Waco (TX) Connally cornerback Kobe Black. Cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph and the Longhorns are making all the right moves on the field and on the recruiting trail to win this recruitment heading into signing day in mid-December.
Before the win over Alabama this weekend, Texas was the clear frontrunner in the race to land a commitment from Black this fall.
The upset win on the road over the Tide only helps the Longhornsâ case in this recruitment. Black said after the game that the Longhorns âcame to playâ and that this âwas a great gameâ.
Itâs also worth noting that Black canceled his official visit to Baton Rouge this weekend to see the LSU Tigers host FCS Grambling at Tiger Stadium. Texas is in a good spot in this recruitment as this staff looks to get Black to shut down the process in the coming weeks.
