Texas football running backs coach Tashard Choice has recruited as well as any coach on the UT staff in the last couple of cycles. He’s landed the No. 1 ranked running back recruit in the nation (at the time of the commitment) in the previous two classes.

The next name up on Choice’s radar in the 2025 class for the Longhorns at the running back position is one of the top RB recruits in the nation, Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei five-star Jordon Davison. The top running back recruit in the nation in the 2025 class (according to Rivals) and the No. 2 for 2025 in the 247Sports Composite, Davison, is clearly Choice’s top priority at the position in that cycle.

Davison has a great relationship with Choice and many other Texas coaches. He was also impressed by Texas’ massive win on the road in Week 2 over the No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide by double digits.

He told Inside Texas that he liked how head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns spread the ball around to different skill players against Alabama.

"“The different type of ways they got their guys the ball.”"

Davison had great experiences on multiple visits to Texas during the offseason. His most recent visit was on the week of the late July pool party/BBQ bash. He made the trip to Austin unofficially on July 25 along with a few Mater Dei teammates, including the No. 1 2025 California wide receiver Marcus Harris.

Multiple recruiting analysts forecasting Davison’s commitment to Texas

The Longhorns started trending to win Davison’s recruitment in the last couple of months. Hank South of Horns247 entered a Crystal Ball Prediction on Aug. 1 with a high confidence level, projecting Davison’s commitment to Texas.

Three On3 recruiting analysts/insiders also forecasted Davison’s commitment to Texas at varying times this year. Justin Wells and Gerry Hamilton of Inside Texas entered On3 RPM picks in the last week, projecting Davison’s commitment to the Longhorns.

On3 national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman entered an RPM pick for Davison to Texas way back in early April.

All three On3 RPM picks for Davison in the last six months have Texas winning this recruitment.
