Texas Football: 4-Star EDGE Solomon Williams taking OV this weekend

The visitor list has taken shape into something that includes a really impressive group of recruits making the trip to Texas football this weekend for the top 25 matchup at DKR in Austin against the No. 24 Kansas Jayhawks. Texas will host over a dozen blue-chip visitors for the Kansas game on Sep. 30, most of which are from the 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes.

Two of the biggest recruits making the trip to Austin this weekend for the Texas-Kansas game at DKR are official visitors from the 2024 class. Four-star Tampa (FL) Carrollwood Day edge rusher Solomon Williams and four-star Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei interior offensive lineman/Auburn Tigers commit DeAndre Carter are the two blue-chip recruits taking official visits to Texas this weekend.

Carter confirmed his official visit to Austin with a post on social media on the night of Sep. 27.

Williams’ official visit to Texas on Sep. 30 was confirmed by a report from Gerry Hamilton of Inside Texas on Sep. 28 (paid content).

Williams is Texas’ top remaining priority edge rusher recruit in the 2024 class this fall. After four-star Tulsa (OK) NOAH Homeschool edge rusher Danny Okoye committed to the Oklahoma Sooners over Texas and the Tennessee Volunteers last week, the attention for the Longhorns on the recruiting trail at EDGE turned solely to Williams (and potentially any late senior evaluations).

This will be Williams’ first return visit to Texas since he made the trip unofficially for the late July pool party/BBQ during the offseason. It is also Williams’ first seeing Texas for a gameday at DKR.

Texas recently made the cut among Williams’ top five schools

Early this fall, Williams reportedly named his five finalist schools, which included Texas. The other four finalist schools are the Clemson Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Oregon Ducks, and Texas A&M Aggies.

Williams officially visited Alabama in mid-June. He’s also unofficially visited Oregon and Texas A&M since the spring.
