Texas football is building serious momentum on the recruiting trail in the 2025 class this fall. The Week 2 win on the road over the No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide skyrocketed Texas’ stock on the recruiting trail with some of the staff’s top targets in the 2025 class.

A top out-of-state target along the interior offensive line in the 2025 class that the win over the Tide caught the attention of is the touted four-star Atlanta (GA) Westlake IOL Juan Gaston. The towering 6-foot-7 and 335-pound interior offensive lineman from Georgia is seriously considering Texas among the top schools in his recruitment this fall.

This is an interior offensive lineman with all the top Power Five schools after him on the recruiting trail this fall.

Gaston included Texas among his eight finalist schools, which he announced on social media on Sep. 17. The other seven finalist schools for Gaston are the Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers, Florida State Seminoles, South Carolina Gamecocks, USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks, and UCF Knights.

Most of the top eight schools Gaston announced on social media last month will be places he visits in the next couple of months. On3 reported on Oct. 11 that Texas is one of the five schools Gaston plans to visit in the next two months.

He is scheduled to visit Texas unofficially on Nov. 4 for the Big 12 matchup at DKR against the Kansas State Wildcats.

Before visiting Texas in early November, Gaston will see South Carolina host the Florida Gators (Oct. 14) and Florida State host the Duke Blue Devils (Oct. 21).

After the Texas visit, Gaston will see Georgia host the Ole Miss Rebels (Nov. 11), and Tennessee host Georgia on Nov. 18.

Gaston will return to Texas for the first time since early in the summer for the Kansas State game

When Gaston visits for the Texas-Kansas State game on Nov. 4, it will be his first return trip to Austin since the Elite Camp in early June 2023. He already had a Texas offer when he attended the Elite Camp early in the summer. But it’s good for the Longhorns to have Gaston on campus as much as possible since the summer.

Texas was an early P5 school that offered Gaston

Texas was one of the first Power Five schools that offered Gaston in early 2022. Offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns getting their foot in the door early helped in a big way in this recruitment.

Flood and the Longhorns are fighting an uphill battle in this recruitment, with a couple of the local SEC powers close to home for Gaston leading the way among his top schools. Georgia and Tennessee are reportedly considered the top two schools in this recruitment.

Georgia was another Power Five school that offered Gaston early. Head coach Kirby Smart and the Dawgs are also the top in-state power that is very close to home for Gaston. He’s got great relationships on that coaching staff.

Tennessee made a big move with Gaston when he visited Knoxville for the Vols upset win over Alabama last fall. Head coach Josh Heupel and the Vols have made Gaston’s recruitment a high priority, which has made a big impression on the gigantic 2025 interior O-Lineman.
