In the last couple of months before the Early Signing Period in mid-December, the 2024 Texas football recruiting class is putting some new offers on flip watch this fall. One recent Texas offer that is on flip watch is three-star Opa Locka (FL) Miami Norland High School defensive lineman, and Auburn Tigers commit Dimitry Nicolas.

Texas offered the explosive and powerful defensive lineman from Florida on Sep. 25, 2023. The communication has remained constant between Texas defensive line coach Bo Davis and Nicolas in the last few weeks since he received the offer from the Longhorns.

Davis and the Longhorns made it clear how much they want Nicolas in the 2024 class this fall. Davis visited Miami Norland HS on Oct. 12 to see Nicolas.

And it sounds like a potential official visit date is in the works as we speak for Nicolas to make it to Austin for a gameday at DKR.

Justin Wells of Inside Texas reported on Oct. 13 (paid content) that the Longhorns are “talking to Nicolas about potential official visit dates” for later this fall. As of the writing of this article on Oct. 14, there are no official visit dates public for Nicolas to see Texas. But it’s significant that Texas is on the verge of getting him to campus for one of the remaining home games this regular season.

Texas has three home games remaining this season, against BYU on Oct. 28, Kansas State on Nov. 4, and Texas Tech on Nov. 24.

Texas looking to add one more DL in the 2024 class this fall

Davis and the Longhorns are clearly looking to add one more scholarship defensive lineman to bring the number to four for this group in the 2024 class heading into signing day in a couple of months. Texas currently has three defensive linemen committed to the 2024 class, including Orlando (FL) Jones four-star D’antre Robinson, Duncanville four-star Alex January, and Lafayette Christian Academy (LA) three-star Melvin Hills.

Texas also offered three-star Greenville (MS) St. Joseph product and Baylor Bears commit Alex Foster along the defensive line this week. Nicolas is reportedly the priority over Foster for Texas to flip among the recent offers along the defensive line in the 2024 class this fall.
