The top remaining uncommitted target for Texas football in the 2024 recruiting class, the elite five-star Waco (TX) Connally cornerback Kobe Black, has set his commitment date for Nov. 29. Justin Wells of On3/Inside Texas reported on Nov. 17 that Black will announce his commitment during a ceremony at Connally High School in late November.

It was reported that the No. 1 ranked cornerback recruit in Texas in the 2024 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking will announce on Nov. 29 while the IT crew is at Connally High School for Black’s playoff game against Jasper (TX) on Nov. 17.

Top Texas football priority CB, 5-Star Kobe Black, sets decision date for late November

Black is the second-highest-rated uncommitted recruit in the 2024 class in the On3 Industry Ranking heading into signing day on Dec. 20.

He has long been considered a Texas lean, with the Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Texas A&M Aggies, and LSU Tigers all taking swings in this recruitment in the last few months.

Texas holds a steady lead in Black’s recruitment heading into his late November decision date

Texas has maintained an edge in the race to land a commitment from Black since he had a successful official visit to Austin in late June. Black also visited Texas for the Red River Rivalry game in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl on Oct. 7 against Oklahoma.

Black took official visits to Norman to see Oklahoma and Columbus to see the Ohio State Buckeyes during the summer. He also had official visits scheduled to see Texas A&M and LSU for gamedays this fall, but both were canceled.

All the forecasts from the various major recruiting services are projecting Black’s commitment to Texas in an overwhelming fashion. All four 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions, including from Steve Wiltfong, project Black’s commitment to the Longhorns over Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M.

Black is one of Texas’ top remaining DB priorities in the 2024 class this fall

Along with top flip candidates, such as five-star McKinney (TX) safety/Florida Gators commit Xavier Filsaime and four-star Lancaster cornerback/Clemson Tigers commit Corian Gipson, Black is one of Texas’ top defensive back priorities in the 2024 class this fall. He is arguably Texas’ top cornerback priority, with Filsaime being the top flip target at safety.
