Texas Football vs. Texas Tech: Staff predictions for Horns in Week 13
The last regular season game in the Big 12 for No. 7 Texas football (10-1, 7-1 Big 12) and head coach Steve Sarkisian pits them against the Texas Tech Red Raiders (6-5, 5-3 Big 12) and head coach Joey McGuire on Black Friday. Texas hosts Texas Tech at DKR in Austin with a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game on the line for Sark’s squad.
A win for the Longhorns against the Red Raiders on Nov. 24 moves them into the Big 12 Championship and keeps them in the College Football Playoff conversation. It would also be satisfying for the Longhorns to send Texas Tech back to Lubbock with a big loss in the final regular season Big 12 game at DKR.

On the other hand, Texas Tech would love nothing more than to send Texas to the SEC with a loss and to ruin the Longhorns’ shot at making the Big 12 title game.
Texas Tech won’t be an easy foe for the Longhorns. McGuire and the Red Raiders have won three games in a row entering Week 13. Tech survived the UCF Knights after head coach Gus Malzahn’s squad missed a potential game-tying extra-point attempt with less than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
Texas had an impressive double-digit win last week on the road over the Iowa State Cyclones, 26-16. The Longhorns controlled both sides of the ball against Iowa State and probably should’ve won by more than just 10 points in Ames on Nov. 18.
The Longhorns are a significant favorite over Texas Tech in Week 13. The pre-game betting line has moved one point in Texas’ favor, as the Longhorns are a 14.5-point favorite over Texas Tech in this game (per Caesars Sportsbook).
