Post-Week 9 2024 College Football Playoff Predictions after multiple teams register top-25 victories

After Week 9, the CFP rankings are starting to steady out. There are still over two dozen teams theoretically still in the running for the 12-team Playoff. But more teams are being eliminated each week.

This week is also the third in a row without over two teams dropping out of the rankings. Four teams inside this week's CFP 12-team rankings notched top-25 victories in Week 9, including the Texas A&M Aggies getting a double-digit victory at home over the LSU Tigers.

Here's a look at the updated 12-team College Football Playoff bracket predictions after another week of separation in the Big Ten and SEC in Week 8.

This week, the Iowa State Cyclones and LSU were the two teams that fell out of the 12-team CFP rankings projection. Iowa State was bumped by the BYU Cougars for the Big 12 Champion spot in the Playoff.

The Ohio State Buckeyes was the only team that fell multiple spots inside this week's CFP 12-team rankings. Ohio State looked had an underwhelming four-point victory over a Nebraska Cornhuskers squad that was defeated by a 56-7 landslide by the Indiana Hoosiers the week before.

BYU and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish re-entered the Playoff rankings this week. Notre Dame notched its third top-25 victory of the season last weekend in a convincing 51-14 win at home over the No. 24 Navy Midshipmen in Week 9.

Head coach Kalani Sitake and the Cougars were triumphent in a 13-point win over head coach Gus Malzahn and the UCF Knights last weekend.

We're getting closer to multiple teams essentially "locking up" their chances of remaining in the CFP ranking conversation for the end of the regular season. Texas A&M, BYU, and Georgia are now all within two more regular season wins of what's "required" to be in the CFP at-large conversation (per Kelley Ford Ratings).

The three teams on the outside looking in are the Miami Hurricanes, LSU, and Iowa State (in order from top to bottom).
