A massive weekend of big-time college football matchups saw multiple top teams from the power conferences start to solidify more spots in this week's College Football Playoff 12-team bracket predictions. Week 7 of the 2024 college football season saw some crazy finishes and overtime games involving ranked teams and top 25 matchups this weekend.

Post-Week 7 2024 College Football Playoff Predictions following big wins for No. 1 Texas football and No. 3 Oregon

To begin the weekend, there were a handful of close calls for top 20 teams in the AP Poll, including the No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide barely staving off an upset bid in the SEC from the South Carolina Gamecocks.

A couple of overtime games around the SEC also saw the LSU Tigers down the Ole Miss Rebels in a crazy game in Baton Rouge at Tiger Stadium under the lights.

The No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers also survived an upset bid from the Florida Gators in a rivalry game that went to overtime in Knoxville on Saturday night.

Maybe the most entertaining game of them all was the top-five matchup in Eugene that saw the No. 3 Oregon Ducks hang on at home against the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes for the one-point victory, 32-31.

Here's a look at the updated 12-team College Football Playoff bracket predictions with fewer changes to the top group after Week 7.

Tennessee was the only team that fell out of this week's College Football Playoff 12-team prediction, after the near upset against the Gators at Neyland Stadium this weekend. Ohio State was the biggest faller in this week's rankings after falling to Oregon on the road.

But the Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day are still the top at-large projected seed since Ohio State still competed at a high level against a really good Oregon team and nearly won on the road in primetime on the game's final drive.

The only new team to enter this week's Playoff projections are the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The early-regular season victory over the Texas A&M Aggies, combined with a couple of big wins over P4 schools in the past few weeks has elevated the Irish back into the Playoff bracket, despite the bad loss in September to Northern Illinois.

Top-ranked Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian maintain the top spot in this week's Playoff projections, after a dominant 34-3 victory over the No. 18 Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry game on Oct. 12.

Per ESPN's Allstate Playoff Predictor, the Longhorns have over a 95 percent chance of making the Playoff this postseason.

The three teams on the outside looking in for this week's Playoff projections are Tennessee, the Miami Hurricanes, and LSU (in order from top to bottom).
