According to Rivals.com's most recent slew of recruiting updates, 2027 Texas WR commit Easton Royal is now officially a 5-star recruit. This comes shortly after Texas Tech's 6'3", 300-pound DT commit Jalen Brewster earned his 5th star as well.
Royal has been skyrocketing up recruiting boards for the past year or so, and he's now on the level of being compared to the likes of former Florida Gator star WR Percy Harvin when he was coming out of high school in 2006.
Very few wide reciever prospects have the type of game-breaking speed and ball skills that Royal has, and Steve Sarkisian and Co. are incredibly happy to already have him committed for 2027.

According to Rivals' staff, Royal is a threat to score every single time he touches the football, and needless to say, that type of thing can't be said about most of the other players in this class.
"Measured at around 5-foot-11, 185 pounds prior to his junior season. One of the fastest top prospects in the cycle, running a scintillating 10.3-second mark in the 100 meters as a sophomore. Brings that elite speed to the gridiron—lethal on vertical routes, easily pulling away from defensive backs downfield. Tough to tackle in the open field and will take it the distance if he finds space at the second level. Shows natural shiftiness as a route-runner, giving him the ability to separate at every level.
Among the more productive top wide receivers in the 2027 cycle as a junior. Can continue improving his ability to attack catches with his arms extended, but has shown an expanded catch radius with several highlight-reel grabs. One of the youngest top prospects in the class with a late July birthday prior to his freshman season of college football. Athleticism, budding polish, and big-play ability make him one of the top overall playmakers in the cycle with the potential to develop into a first-round NFL Draft pick.”
Royal is also doing his part to help recruit another 5-star WR in the 2027 class, Monshun Sales, to Texas as he's been reaching out to the 6'5" playmaker fairly often recently.
