3 2025 Texas commits who recently visited other SEC schools

How should it be gauged status-wise for top Texas commits in the 2025 recruiting class visiting other SEC schools in recent weeks before signing day in December?

According to On3, multiple Texas commitments in the 2025 class visited Florida over the weekend for the LSU game on Nov. 16. The biggest Texas blue-chip commit who visited the Gators last weekend was elite five-star Jacksonville (FL) Mandarin wide receiver Jaime Ffrench.

Ffrench's trip to Florida last weekend was an official visit.

Over the past few weeks, the Gators and head coach Billy Napier have dialed up the pressure and ramped up the communication with Ffrench in his recruitment before the Dec. 4 signing day.

Ffrench has said since the trip to Florida wrapped up last weekend that he remains "locked in with Texas". His commitment to the Longhorns in the 2025 class still being in tact is a bit of a positive after all the in-state push from the Gators and Napier recently.

It's noteworthy that Ffrench's 7-on-7 teammate and four-star quarterback Tramell Jones flipped his commitment to the Gators last weekend. Florida is also building the offense around talented freshman quarterback DJ Lagway for the future.

There's no doubt in my mind that Ffrench taking an official visit to an in-state school that has the quarterback future building through the recruiting trail is something to watch in Ffrench's recruitment before signing day. Texas probably still keeps him committed before signing day, but it would be naive to think that Florida isn't a threat here for Ffrench.
