3 elite 5-Star recruits Texas can land before signing day

Texas can get to at least 25 commitments from high school recruiting in the 2025 class, entering the Early Signing Period (beginning on Dec. 4).

Michael Fasusi, OT (OU commit)

Five-star Lewisville (TX) offensive tackle and Oklahoma Sooners commit Michael Fasusi has been on flip watch for the Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies since he visited each school in the past two weeks.

Fasusi visited Austin two weekends ago unofficially to watch the Longhorns beat the Kentucky Wildcats by double digits on Senior Day at DKR. He also saw Texas win the Lone Star Showdown, 17-7, over Texas A&M in College Station this past weekend.

Taking back-to-back visits to schools he's not committed to certainly doesn't bode well for the Sooners to hang onto his pledge through signing day later this week.

Since early playing time is such a big factor for Fasusi's recruitment, the fact that the Longhorns have shown so much depth at the offensive tackle position in the past two weeks might not do well for them here. When Texas lost junior starting left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. to a lower-body injury in the first half against Texas A&M last weekend, Trevor Goosby looked fantastic coming in the game in relief of the All-American.

I don't know what the pecking order would be for Fasusi regarding the chances that he ends up at Texas or Texas A&M, if he does flip his commitment from OU on signing day. But it is a viable possibility that Fasusi flips from Oklahoma this week.

In fact, Fasusi is probably the most realistic flip target in-state for the Longhorns and Aggies among elite blue-chip recruits in the 2025 class before signing day on Wednesday.

Fasusi's decision this week regarding where he'll ultimately sign on the dotted line on signing day also hinges on whether Oklahoma and head coach Brent Venables decides to keep longtime offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh.
